At BMHS we are charged with the care and learning of students representing a wide spectrum of economics, cultures and ethnicities. With that knowledge, we assert that all student success (learning) is our number one priority. All students at BMHS deserve to have the highest quality education. They are owed access to high quality instructional practices which are not only aligned to the standards, but also engages them in the rigorous expectations of daily learning. This will empower teachers in their instructional guardianship and compel students to own their learning. This collective focus will lead to a culture where excellence is every day.

In order to obtain optimal students’ achievement, all contents must continue to develop and implement the instructional planning calendar (IPC). Teachers will deliver intentional instruction that addresses every aspect of the prioritized standards/TEKS, thus achieving student mastery. Student mastery will be assessed through daily aligned exit tickets with accompanying success criteria and aggressive monitoring. By evaluating exit ticket data, teachers will capitalize on immediate opportunities to develop quality instruction and meet the needs of every student on an ongoing basis.

In order to facilitate this process, teachers must prioritize and break down standards, write and sequence daily lesson objectives, create aligned daily exit tickets (assessments) with success criteria, and aggressively monitor student performance. School leaders must do this work alongside teachers, provide consistent feedback and guidance, and make sure to identify their progress along the way. Additionally, we much implement the developed systems to support and make it easier for our staff to work through the inevitable challenges they will face, celebrate their growth, and encourage perseverance over the course of the year as we tackle these priorities. Through developing teachers, a culture of excellence and trust will be established which will allow us to increase team effectiveness in the ultimate mission: student success.
